Welcome to September
Photovoltaic system.
On 12 August 2011 the photovoltaic system of the Lorenzini Naturamica® company was inaugurated, yet another and fundamental step in a path that is always attentive to respect and safeguarding nature.
The photovoltaic system is spread over approximately 7,200 square meters of company roofs and has an installed power of 841.45 kWp.
The production for the first year was approximately 843,133 kWh, while the expected production in the 30 years will reach 22,258,708 kWh. The positive effects of the plant on the territory are considerable as, in addition to not stealing arable land, the emission of 12,461,996 kg of carbon dioxide will be avoided over the course of 30 years.
Heating greenhouses through biomass and wood chips.
In September 2014 the Lorenzini Naturamica® company started an energy efficiency program for the heating of the greenhouses used for the cultivation of melons, work completed in the following months.
The purpose of this operation is to produce heat using biomass (wood chips), obtaining enormous environmental benefits. The use of biomass for energy purposes does not contribute to aggravating the current phenomenon of the greenhouse effect, since the amount of carbon dioxide released during decomposition, whether it occurs naturally or as a result of energy conversion processes (even if through combustion), it is equivalent to that absorbed during the growth of the biomass itself.
If biomass is burned and replaced with new biomass, there is no net contribution to the CO2 levels in the atmosphere.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Continuous search for certified quality
The company intends to continue its sustainability and energy efficiency program, using the tools and implementing the necessary behaviors to achieve ISO 50001 Certification: 2011 which governs Energy Management Systems and specifies the requirements that an energy management system must have (ENMS/SGE), enabling an organization to have a systematic approach for a continuous improvement of its energy performance, taking into account legal obligations and other information relating to significant energy aspects.
