Tradition and hard work

From the very beginning, at Lorenzini Naturamica we have focused on the quality of the products and the production process. Before the introduction of machinery for the selection and packaging, all the operations were carried out by hand and there was great attention and care in the choice of the qualities to be cultivated and in the visual or manual checks. These parameters are still important: through the weight or the colour of a melon’s ribs, for example, its characteristics can be discovered, just as through the beat of a watermelon one can guess the quality of its pulp.

Innovation and technology

Technology entered the company for the first time through a belt grader for melons, which is still used today. Since then the technological evolution has been continuous and has allowed us to improve the speed and quality of all our departments: production, selection and packaging. In 2020 we introduced new machinery for the tomato, melon and watermelon line, continuing to guarantee the best quality also through the manual methods of tradition, undisputed protagonists of our history.

From seeding to harvest

The production phases

Passion, skills and hard work allow us to guarantee a certified production in all its phases, from sowing to harvesting. The result is natural products of the highest quality.

Selection and Sowing.

The seeds are carefully selected and planted in the pots inside our nurseries. When we expect to have to cultivate not very fertile or more difficult soils, before transplanting in the field we practice the grafting in the nursery.

Pruning.

Through the pruning, the secondary branches are removed, in order to make the plant grow in a homogeneous way and to force it to bear fruit further away from the centre, to obtain a better quality.

Pollination.

Both in the field and greenhouse, pollination occurs through the use of bees and bumblebees, which help us to maintain all the quality guaranteed by the integrated biological pest management.

Irrigation.

During the growth, we take care of our plants with the thinning of the branches, the drip irrigation, the binding of tomatoes. All these attentions allow us to have healthy and quality products.

Harvest.

The harvest takes place exclusively by hand and following the natural ripening process of the plant, using techniques suited to the characteristics of each crop.

Analysis.

We analyse the brix degree and carry out sample quality checks on all our products. Only when all the standards are respected (measurement, weight, selection) do we proceed with the packaging.

Fresh processing.

The processing of our products is carried out on the same day as their harvest, thus without the need for refrigerated cells. Otherwise, before starting the processing we proceed to a further phase of analysis.

Certification and marking.

After selection and analysis, our products are ready to obtain quality certification and be branded with the laser code that identifies the entire production history, from seed to packaging.
