The Pumpkin

Our high quality pumpkins, grown in the province of Mantua and Syracuse, belong to the Delica variety, a hybrid derived from the cross between the types of pumpkin Cucurbita maxima and Cucurbita Moschata. It has a round shape, a little flattened with light ribs and reaches small dimensions, it can weigh up to 2.5 kg.

From the two parent varieties it takes the following characteristics:
• medium dark green skin with lighter streaks, typical of Cucurbita Maxima;
• deep orange pulp and very sweet, a particularity of Cucurbita Moschata.

Hypocaloric.

Pumpkin is a valid food in low-calorie diets and in those of diabetic patients, thanks to the very low carbohydrate and lipid content, offset by high percentages of fibre, vitamins and mineral salts.

Depurative.

Pumpkin has several beneficial properties: it rebalances the intestinal flora by eliminating parasites, fights constipation and colitis, promotes diuresis and counteracts fluid retention, helping to “deflate” and purify.

Relaxing.

Pumpkin contains magnesium, which helps muscle relaxation, bringing physical and mood benefits. Furthermore, thanks to the presence of tryptophan, an amino acid involved in the production of serotonin, pumpkin is useful in fighting insomnia, nervous hunger and depression.

Delica Pumpkin

The Delica Pumpkin has a medium-dark green skin with longitudinal streaks clear. It has a slightly flattened shape with light ribs. The pulp is deep orange with good consistency. Sweet, of high quality, low in calories, diuretic and intestinal regulator, Delica pumpkin contains many fibres and is rich in carotenoids and mineral salts (calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium) and vitamins (especially vitamin A).

Storage: excellent, if kept in an environment with little light and low percentage of humidity
Weight: 1,4-2,5 Kg
Production period: August-July
